1 week after surgery

Today I am feeling much better than I've felt. Given the news we had 2 nights ago and the inability to move freely, I wasn't able to sleep more than an hour and a half or so. Last night I got good sleep and was even able to sleep on my left side in a comfortable position. I woke up a lot, but was able to go back to sleep.
I took my first staircase yesterday and went up and down. Seemed to work pretty well. I also went down to the cafe and had a strawberry milkshake with Neysa and some friends we met in Jaipur. It was great to get out of the room and talk to someone who knew a lot about the culture here in India. We picked his brain with questions.
I'm getting my appetite back and am eating small portions through the day. Pain isn't much -I'm really trying not to take too much pain killer because I think sometimes you can really injure yourself more if you don't feel your body telling you "no". I am slow doing normal tasks but I'm up for the challenge. I have to get back into the habits sooner or later.
Doctor's say they are looking at my discharge for Thursday or Friday this week. At that point Neysa and I will find a hotel close by. As soon as dad gets out of ICU she will come back to the hospital and stay with him.
As far as my dad goes, Dr's say his blood pressure has stabilized and today for the first time there is a little output from the kidneys (100ml).

  1. The power of prayer is pretty incredible and I think our circle of family and friends is large enough to carry the echo of strength and love for miles. I'm glad you're feeling better beautiful, it eases my mind knowing you and your dad are gradually improving. I'm headed off to bed, sweet dreams and don't let the bed bugs bite...When ever you get back to peaceful sleep! I love you uncle and Neys! xoxo

  2. That is such good news Renee about you and your dad. Mike is going to take some time to get to the point where you are in feeling better. It was a much bigger adjustment for his body. I know it was hard for you to stay out of his room and stick to the rules but rules are usually (not always) set for a good reason and need to be followed. Thanks for restraining yourselves. Neysa, it sounds like they are doing their job as far as keeping things clean so you could probably save your wipes for when he is in less sanitary conditions. You are so funny!

What Drina said above is great about our prayer "large enough to carry the echo of strength and love for miles." That is really touching. I am loving all your posts just as much as Renee and Neysa are and want to thank you for being such a big part of this circle. All of you posting --you are terrific -- thank you!

My love to all of you in India and special prayers for your Dad.
    Love,
    Mom

  6. Hello, "Girl Crew"...How's the "Posse?!!" Wow Renee! You're moving right along! How Wonderful! I can't believe that you will be discharged this wk. already! Take it easy--don't overdo it! I went to see Ruben "conduct" an Orchestral concert at the Denver School of the Arts last night...barely a week after having his appendics out-(is that how you spell appendix?) and he was not doing well-He was compelled to do this scheduled performance, but has been having pain since his appendechtomy (sp?!), and after being examined, just prior to concert time, he found out that he was retaining liquid in the area of his surgery, and they had him go in this morning to Rose Med Cntr. to install some drainage apparatus to take care of this...He will be in the hosp. tonite only I believe. Any hoo..He's feeling much better!
Went to see Susan this evening, and she took me out for sushi...a nice treat!
Alot of people concerned and praying for all of you...even my tax lady said she'd pray for you all. I told her about Mike, and she was soo fascinated, as we all are, about this whole process! But she offered prayers from both she and her hubby...She's a very nice woman.
Got a couple more donations from co-workers,and went to my friend Joyce Winters house last nite, after the concert to pick up a third donation, and her little yappy poodle got protective when i opened her door, and bit me in the leg! Not too huge-(little dog) but it hurt for a while, and bled...so I "took one in the Leg for the cause!" Well, enuf stuf! Have a beautiful day, and be at peace with what is happening, right now..There are alot of us out here On Your Side! Love you all! Aunt Rita

  14. Grapevine news -- but it's from a good source -- Renee's husband, Miguel. They have moved Renee out of the hospital and into the hotel room Neysa was staying in. He thought Mike was still in ICU. They have been busy. And probably why no news from them. I like your thinking Dana --No new is good news. Neysa will now have to run back and forth from the hotel to the hospital. Hopefully, Renee will feel good enough to go to the hospital with her a couple times.

Have a wonderful birthday celebration girls!! Happy Birthday to all of you

    -Barb

  15. Hey You little cuties...It's gettin' cold here again, a big winter weather warning for tonite, snow's coming late tonite, and it's raining right now. The mntns. are supposed to be getting 2 ft. of snow over the next coupla days...of course it's already snowing up at the Eisenhower Tunnel. Supposed to be snowing all wknd. pretty much!
I'm happy to hear of your "move" Renee, and trust that Neysa has done everything she can to "make the joint cozy!" Be very tender to your precious self! Are you feeling any (major) pain? I know you were "curbing" the meds, but don't torture yourself if you need to rest and eliminate the world around you for a day here or there!
Please update us on Mike's condition...we're all anxious to hear about it, and praying that his comfort needs are being met! Hoping that you are able to see him now. Sure love you guys! kisses and big "Air-Hugs" to you all! A'Dios! Aunt Rita
